Learning Disabilities
The Learning Disabilities Association of America (LDA) is the largest non-profit volunteer organization advocating for individuals with learning disabilities. It serves tens of thousands of members with learning disabilities, their families and the professionals who work with them. There is a Pennsylvania affiliate. The SchwabLearning.org website primarily serves parents whose kids (kindergarten through high school) have learning difficulties, including specific learning disabilities (LD). The site provides a variety of articles and resources. LD OnLine provides information and advice about learning disabilities and ADHD. The site features articles, monthly columns by experts, first person essays, children’s writing and artwork, a resource guide, active forums, and a Yellow Pages referral directory of professionals, schools, and products.
For information about teaching children to read, see the National Reading Panel web site.
