A message from Rhonda Feder from CAGE:

It’s been a long time and I would like to re-invigorate this list with some vibrant content and discussion. First, please pass along this link to anyone in Cheltenham you think would be interested in CAGE and our email list: http://cheltenhamgifted.org/mailman/listinfo/cagelist_cheltenhamgifted.org. As you know, it is not the most active list, but let’s see if we can make it relevant to what is going in Cheltenham, what concerns you may have with we are educating high achieving kids in our community. I highly recommend reading a discussion piece in the NY Times about some very relevant research just published by the Thomas B Fordham Institute: http://www.nytimes.com/roomfordebate/2011/10/02/are-top-students-getting-short-shrift The research can be found here, and their piece is called “Do High Flyers Maintain Their Altitude? Performance Trends of Top Students”: http://www.edexcellence.net/publications-issues/publications/high-flyers.html Lastly, if anyone is inspired by this research is interested in a live discussion in Cheltenham on this issue and how we are educating our children, please let me know. I’d like to work on a discussion forum with at least one or two speakers, but I would need to know if there is interest and someone willing to work on it with me. CAGE has no budget, so costly speakers are not an option! Rhonda Federrcfeder@mac.com<mailto:rcfeder@mac.com>
