As a starting point, the School Distric of Cheltenham’s website has a special education page for parents.  But the road to asking for and receiving special education services can be a maze for parents new to the process. The Right to Special Education in Pennsylvania — 2009 Guide for Parents from the Education Law Center provides information parents need to request special education services in Pennsylvania. It includes information on the process for requesting an evaluation (or an independent evaluation), developing a special education plan and dealing with problems that arise. It includes timelines and excellent form letters to save you time and assure that all important information is included.
